Science & Careers: A Partnership Benefiting Georgia Tech College of Sciences Students
At Georgia Tech, the collaboration between the Career Center and the College of Sciences is
empowering students with vital career education resources. With James Stringfellow’s recent
promotion to Career Education Program Manager for the College of Sciences, this partnership
is stronger than ever, providing students with tailored support and opportunities.
James plays a critical role in student, faculty, alumni, and employer engagement, promoting
career education events, offering one-on-one student consultations, and managing budgets
between the Career Center and the College of Sciences. He emphasizes, "Career Education is
360 for me. Since I form a great number of partnerships, internally and externally, there is a
constant” give and take” of information. This information gets processed and used to help our students.
Signature events like "What Can I Do with My GT Sciences Degree," "How to get Sciences &
Math Internships," and "The CoS Student Alumni Leadership Dinner" are designed to connect
students with industry professionals and alumni, offering insights that can shape their career paths.
A key initiative is the annual CoS Career Pulse Survey, which gathers student feedback on their majors, desired industries, and post-graduation plans. As James notes, "This survey helps us tailor programs, identify gaps, and target industries that align with our students' needs."
Students can meet James at the "Meet Your Career Educator" event on September 11, 2024, at 5:00 pm in the John Lewis Student Center. This is a prime opportunity to learn how the Career Center and the College of Sciences are working together to support their success. Students should log on to CareerBuzz and register for the event.
Through strategic partnerships and dedicated support, Georgia Tech's College of Sciences is committed to helping students achieve their academic and career goals.

The College of Sciences gets the “pulse” of education, career, and industry needs through a new survey targeting the undergraduate population
The College of Sciences is excited to launch the annual Career Pulse Survey, a key initiative led by
James Stringfellow, Career Education Program Manager. This brief survey, which will be emailed to all
undergraduate students, opens on October 1st and runs through December 1st, 2024.
Designed to track students' academic and career interests, the 10-12 question survey provides valuable insights
into students' majors, evolving interests, and any changes they make during their studies. “The Career Pulse Survey
is more than just a questionnaire,” James explains. “It’s a vital tool that helps us tailor programs and target industries
aligned with our students' goals. This will also give us a good indication where any career or internship gaps in opportunities”
By participating, students contribute directly to shaping the future of career education in the College of Sciences. James emphasizes, “Your voice matters. The insights we gain will enhance the educational experience and career preparation for all.”
Take a few minutes to complete the survey and play a part in this important initiative!

SCIENCE & SOCIETY INTERNSHIP PROGRAM
Christopher M. Stanzione, Senior Lecturer, Associate Chair of Undergraduate Studies, School of Psychology
The School of Psychology is creating a Science and Society
Internship program. The program includes three tracks:
1) International Experience, 2) Virtual Experience, and
3) Local Impact, with the goal to help support students
achieve full momentum towards graduation and their
post-graduate career, improve academic engagement, and
deepen purposeful choices for their careers in a global world.
Secondly, our program helps to serve Georgia Tech’s strategic
vision as we mobilize our partnerships for moving into action.
These internships will offer students practical experience to ensure they are prepared for career success, and offer the School an opportunity to develop educational programs that will meet emerging market needs.
We’ve also designed a mentoring experience within the Internship program between graduate and undergraduate students, which we believe will offer unique applied and academic views during the experience. We’ve designed the program in a way to meet the needs and strengthen the undergraduate experience, increase our network of companies and partners, and improve the visibility of our program.
