


JString's Bio
James "JString" Stringfellow is an Atlanta-based producer, arranger, and music creator known for his dynamic fusion of Hip-Hop, R&B, World, and Pop music. As a voting member of the Recording Academy since 2022, he has made significant contributions to the industry, including his work as a Grammy-VOTED producer for the single World Premiere (The World Tour Mixes) featuring Phaze. His production expertise has earned him widespread recognition, including back-to-back "Producer of the Year" awards at the Atlanta Underground Music Awards (2011 & 2012) for his work on The Low Acid Frequency and Radioactive.
JString’s journey in music began in Chicago, where he collaborated with house music pioneers "Spinning Wheel" Bill and Niel "Hawaiian House" during high school. He later interned at A&M Records (Chicago office) in 1989, working in promotions with artists such as EG Daily, Vesta Williams, Tora Tora, Seduction, Soundgarden, and Janet Jackson. After earning a Marketing degree from Tuskegee University (1995), he launched Streethop Records in Montgomery, AL, signing and producing for artists like Shann, Phaze, Blak-N-Mil, and Hypnotic. Shann’s album, Each & Every Day, gained radio success with singles including So Good, On & On, and Ghetto Thang. As a producer, JString is also credited for hit songs with Phaze, such as Act Like You Know, Where Can I Hide?, Get Paid, World Premiere, What If I Told You I Love You, and Last Born.
Expanding his work into film, James Stringfellow received IMDB credit as the music supervisor and soundtrack coordinator for the film “Trust”, produced by Bill Piece and directed by Parris Reeves. The film’s soundtrack featured My Ni**A by Blak-N-Mil, further showcasing his ability to curate impactful music for visual storytelling.
In Atlanta, JString founded ALL JAM MUSIC GROUP, leading projects such as the soundtrack for Dear Yvette: Shattered Fairytales, where he served as Executive Producer and produced tracks like All About the Good Life featuring Calvin Payne and Free featuring Lotus Love.
In addition to his music career, James served as Director of Career Services at SAE Institute (School of Audio Engineering) in Atlanta, where he and his team earned the prestigious Diamond Career Services Award for excellence in student career placement.
His 2020 release, JString's Magical Manifestation of the Feel Good Groove, was celebrated as the "Feel Good" album of the year, channeling the energy of '80s and '90s music. Fan favorites include All About The Good Life featuring Calvin Payne, Vibin' with JString featuring Rafael Saqueira, Joshua Zook, and Yona Mona, What If I Told You I Love You (The Sunset Remix) featuring Phaze, Old School Party featuring Jai, and Escapism featuring Eric Toi, Will Allen "The BRASS," and Leemont Ferguson.
Currently, JString is working on JString's World Party, a transglobal project featuring artists from Jamaica, Chile, Barbados, Argentina, Philadelphia, Detroit, Miami, Atlanta, and Chicago. This highly anticipated project is slated for a summer 2025 release and promises to unite cultures through a shared love of rhythm and groove.
